Designed for fuel economy and minimal emissions, the Husqvarna 450 Chainsaw’s 50cc X-Torq engine generates 3.2 horsepower.  Maximum power speed is 9,000 RPM; idling speed is 2,700 RPM.  Husqvarna’s 545 professional chainsaw has a 50cc, 3.35 horsepower engine with an RPM range of 2,800–9,600 if you like to view the next level up.

Air Injection

Before reaching the air filter, a centrifugal air system eliminates dust and debris.  The cover has a handy fast release for cleaning and replacing the filter.

 Chain Brake

Of course, nothing replaces careful operation, but the Husqvarna 450 Chainsaw’s iner-activated chain brake is a major safety plus.  Chainsawing by its very nature makes it likely that you are distant from assistance and maybe operating alone.

PERFORMANCE

Establishing the Bar High

I ran the Husqvarna 450 Chainsaw over our family’s 50-acre woodland property in Georgia.  Several birch, pine, and other trees storm-downed scattered the horse paths of the farm.

The saw comes equipped with an 18-inch Pixel 0.325 laminated bar and accommodates a bar range of 13 to 20 inches.  The bar has a chain of H30 Pixel 0.325-inch.  On the first or second pull, start-up is simple and I fast got to the work at hand.

To obtain a sense of the power and fuel economy, I first sliced up a 30-foot-tall birch and a 50-foot pine tree into 18-inch logs.  The root of the pine was over 2 feet across, hence I had to chop from several sides.

The chainsaw is quite efficient and powerful; it has no issue with these cuts.
